Moulding

About
Since our foundation, ENKEV has produced natural moulded products. Over recent years, we have developed innovative and economic new ways of moulding coir or hair products. The freshly rubberised coir fibres are pressed in moulds and then vulcanised. Widely used applications are seat cushions and armrests for furniture and car seats. The moulds are manufactured in-house according to the customer’s specification.
Alongside this traditional moulding, we recently developed a different press and moulding machine to make packaging shape: Cocoform. During this process, the fibre is pressed very firmly and has a more smooth, tight and fixed character, suitable for premium product packaging.
Moulding process: unvulcanized rubberized sheets can be shaped in many different forms. After moulding the material into the right shape, we heat the material to vulcanize the natural latex. The result is a very open structure that is stong, resilient and comfortable. And, despite being made from fully sustainable, raw materials, the properties do not differ a great deal from those of industrial foams.
Traditionally, car seats are built up out of moulded rubberized products. There are still some high end car manufacturers who use this material because of it’s superior properties on the fields of comfort, microclimate and sustainability.
Over the years ENKEV has successfully developed a new, more efficient way to produce moulded products made of our renewable and sustainable materials.
